ABOLISHING RESERVATION IN PROMOTION

4381. SHRI NAGAR RODMAL:


Will the PRIME MINISTER be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Government proposes to abolish reservation in promotion in the Government jobs; and

(b) if so, the details thereof?

ANSWER

Minister of State in the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions and Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office. (DR. JITENDRA SINGH)

(a): There is no proposal under consideration of the Central Government to abolish reservation in promotion in the Central Government jobs.

(b): Does not arise, in view of reply given to Part (a) of the Question.

  1. Promotion should be either based on merit or seniority and not on the basis of reservation otherwise it will create despondency among the staff.
