7th Pay Commission: Central govt employees feel "cheated" on allowance, minimum pay

The central government employees will be getting the revised salary as per 7th Pay Commission starting from July-end, but they still feel "cheated".

The representatives of central government employees met the government officials to discuss the recommendations of 7th Pay Commission.

During the meet, the government employees leaders expressed dissatisfaction on minimum pay which the government set at Rs 18,000 under the revised 7th Pay Commission recommendations, a media report said.

As per the revised pay, the government has increased the minimum wage of the central government employees from Rs 7000 per month to Rs 18000 per month.

Now, the central government employees feel "cheated" by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, who had promised to raise the minimum pay over Rs 18,000 per month but he did not, as reported by OneIndia.

Moreover, as per the report, the employees were in the hope of getting arrears from July 2016 onwards but Union Cabinet rolled out the allowances from July 2017 onwards.

Though there are reports on allowances but the employees are still clueless about arrears on allowances.

Further, the employees raised voice related to allowances too. On allowance front, the Cabinet had said that house rent allowance (HRA) which is currently paid 30% for X (population of 50 lakh & above), 20% for Y (5 to 50 lakh) and 10% for Z (below 5 lakh) category of cities. 7th CPC has recommended reduction in the existing rates to 24% for X, 16% for Y and 8% for Z category of cities.

However, the central government employees in the meeting showed dissatisfaction by the decision. They reiterated for retaining the existing HRA rates at 30%, 20% and 10%, the report mentioned.
