Highlights of 7th CPC Revised Allowances approves by Cabinet on 28.06.2017 Cabinet approves recommendations of the 7th CPC on allowances The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi approved the recommendations of the 7th CPC on allowances with some modifications. The revised rates of the allowances shall come into effect from 1st July, 2017 and shall affect more than 48 lakh central government employees. While approving the recommendations of the 7th CPC on 29th June, 2016, the Cabinet had decided to set up the Committee on Allowances (CoA) in view of substantial changes in the existing provisions and a number of representations received. If the agenda is set later today and the cabinet takes up the matter, then the employees can expect higher HRA and allowances. 7th Pay Commission: Confusion over HRA may end; Cabinet to meet on June 28 In what may come as a relief to central government employees, awaiting clarity on their allowances for a long time, the Union Cabinet in its meet on June 28, is most likely to discuss allowances proposed in the Seventh Pay Commission. The topic had been a matter of both suspense and annoyance for nearly 47 lakh central government employees, who have been on tenterhooks. The reforms have been awaiting Cabinet approval since they were handed over to Finance Minister Arun Jaitley by Empowered Committee of Secretaries on June 1.
