COMPENSATION TO FAMILIES OF MARTYRED DEFENCE PERSONNEL

330. SHRI KONAKALLA NARAYANA RAO:

 Will the Minister of DEFENCE be pleased to state:

 (a) whether the Government has database of families of martyred defence personnel and if so, the details thereof;

(b) the details of compensation, including employment provided to next of kin of those martyred during the last two years and the current year, State / UT and year-wise; and

(c) whether the Government proposes to provide uniform compensation to the families of all martyrs irrespective of branch or battalion of the forces they belong to and if so, the details thereof?

STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) TO (c) OF LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. 330 FOR ANSWER ON 24.3.2017

(a) to (c): The number of war widows registered with Zila Sainik Welfare offices (as on 31.12.2016) is at Annexure-I. The information on compensation payable to the Next of Kins (NoKs) of the casualties is placed at Annexure-II. Out of total reserve vacancies for armed forces personnel in PSUs and Banks, 4.5% is specifically reserved for war widows / disabled personnel.

There is no distinction in grant of compensation based on branch or battalion of the deceased defence personnel.

ANNEXURE-II REFERRED IN THE REPLY GIVEN IN PARTS (a) TO (c) OF LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. 330 FOR ANSWER ON 24.3.2017

Details of compensation payable to the Next of Kins (NoKs) of the Battle Casualty (Fatal):

(a) Liberalized Family Pension (LFP) as applicable to Battle Casualty which is equal to emoluments last drawn by the deceased individual.

(b) Death-cum-Retirement Gratuity which is based on length of service rendered and emoluments last drawn by the deceased individual.

(c) Ex-gratia lump sum compensation from central Government are as under:


(d) Other benefits like Education Concession Card and Travel Concession Card.

(e) Other assistance provided from insurance/welfare funds maintained by the respective services.

Air Travel allowed to Central Government Employees from Level 6 and above

Air Travel Entitled by Central Govt Employees from level 6 and above Now the Air Travel is allowed for Central Government employees those who are in Level 6 (Pre Revised Rs.4200 Grade Pay) and above. It is Good News for those who are in Level 6 to 8, as the Travel entitlement for them so far is AC II by Train only. Now they are entitled to Travel By Air in Economy Class. The Central Government published Gazette Notification for 7th CPC Allowances on 6th July 2017. The 7th CPC has recommended that 53 allowances be abolished and 37 be subsumed in an existing or a newly proposed allowances. But the Government has decided to retain 12 Allowances from that 53 Allowances and allowed 3 Allowances to continue as separate allowance from these 37 Allowances recommended to be subsumed.
